Everton plan move for CSKA Moscow midfielder Alan Dzagoev as competition for Ross Barkley
10.12.2016Everton have discussed a potential January move for CSKA Moscow playmaker Alan Dzagoev.
The Russia international scored for CSKA in their 3-1 Champions League defeat by Tottenham in midweek and Everton director of football Steve Walsh was sat with the Russian club’s representatives in the Wembley crowd.
Dzagoev, 26, has flirted with the idea of moving to England on numerous occasions and is keen to play in the Premier League while he is still at the peak of his powers.
Tottenham tried to sign him three seasons ago but the asking price was £25million which proved prohibitive. Now CSKA are looking at a more realistic £15m.
Ronald Koeman has concerns about Ross Barkley’s consistency in the No 10 position and Dzagoev would increase competition and can also play a more advanced role.
Koeman wants five new players for his under-performing squad, though it will prove difficult to attract the right names.
Everton are also attempting to beat Real Madrid to the signing of AIK prospect Alexander Isak.
Madrid are understood to have had a £9million proposal rejected for the 17-year-old though AIK are prepared to sell for a Swedish record of £14million.
